Love & Support
Even though I'm trying to be tough and Julia calls me Mommy Moondragon (named after the Marvel character), I will admit I have appreciated all of the support. My parents have temporarily moved to Austin to help out. My mom won't let me unload my own dishwasher. My dad offered to drive 14 hours to Colorado to pick me up some edibles for the nausea. My friends have sent me flowers, cookies, and comfy clothes. I even received one of these... things.
Jeff asked if it was supposed to scare my cancer away. Julia liked it and wants me to put it on my nightstand so it can watch me while I'm sleeping.
Jeff goes to all of my important doctor appointments and asks intelligent questions while I'm breathing into my paper bag. Julia has given me lots of hugs and likes to say "F**k cancer!" when the two of us are alone (she says she learned that word from Daddy). Claire cheered me up the other day by brushing me with a pastry brush (it was oddly soothing) and bringing me a stuffed polar bear to hug.
Another breast cancer patient told me to treat every day like it's my birthday. So I bought myself a rainbow cashmere sweater. (Who doesn't need one of those?) I justified the expense because of all the money I'm going to save on shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, curling cream, and haircuts.
Anyway, thank you all for checking on me and sending your love.

ReplyDeleteMy comment was not censored. It was just used as a test to get comments working! Success! :-)
DeleteGood lord, Blogger automatically selected a zoomed-in view of the "thing" as its thumbnail. Extra creepy. You should post again soon so it moves down the list and doesn't scare people off.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, now it looks as if I said something inappropriate. But success in posting. I did use my google account. Turns out I was signed in all along. Must have given them the right password after all. But maybe I should open a new google account with my own name and email.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...
Hi Jami. Happy Monday.

Seems like a good time to let your kid use the F word.
ReplyDeleteI think so! I've been mainly upbeat around the kids, but I figure we all have a little anger to release.
